Based on electrochemical principles, pre-nickel-plated steel strips deposit a uniform and dense nickel layer on the surface of low-carbon steel or ultra-low-carbon steel through the action of electric current in a specific plating solution. Pre-nickel-plated steel strips can be formed and welded in one step by multi-roll rolling equipment or stamping equipment, featuring low processing cost, good corrosion resistance and excellent weldability.

The strength can be significantly improved by using pre-nickel-plated alloy steel. The tensile strength can be increased from 160~180MPa of aluminum alloy to more than 500~600MPa, meeting the strength requirements of high-energy-density batteries and the automotive CT requirements.

Lightweight
The thickness of the battery case is reduced from 0.5mm-1.0mm (aluminum) to 0.35~0.40mm (using pre-nickel-plated high-strength or ultra-high-strength alloy steel). Compared with aluminum strips, the thickness of pre-nickel-plated alloy steel can be reduced by about two-thirds, while the weight of the shell is equivalent.

Safety
The melting point of steel (1600℃) is significantly higher than that of aluminum (660℃), which prevents battery short-circuit and subsequent combustion, and greatly improves safety.
